IRGC Intelligence Chief Mohammad Kazemi Killed in Israeli Strike in Tehran
Brigadier General Mohammad Kazemi, the head of intelligence for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has been killed in an Israeli attack.
Mohammad Kazemi was appointed to this crucial position in June 2022, succeeding Hossein Taeb.
In a rare move for such operations, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged responsibility for the assassination during an interview. Netanyahu's admission has further escalated the ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran in the Middle East. This incident is part of a series of attacks carried out by Israel targeting Iran's military and nuclear facilities.
The death of a high-ranking intelligence official like Kazemi represents a significant blow to the IRGC.
This assassination has reportedly led to tightened security measures in Tehran, with an increased presence of military aircraft patrolling the capital's skies. Analysts believe this event could further ignite regional conflict.
